How Do Other Writers Do This?

It may take these little – not big – chunks of time, and a habit of plain-old sitting down to write – often – to create great works.

As I hold this light of practicing connection, it's terrible. I feel the familiar drag of hiding, but also see the spark of something long ago familiar, like a conscience, on the other side. How do we even do this thing called connection? To each other? To ourselves? To God? Read on at my latest blog. Link in Bio. --Photo Cred: Joanna Kasinska, Unsplash
So...that just happened. Martha, the darling launch team manager, encouraged us on the team to talk to people about this book @inwantandplenty we are launching into the world. I felt nervous and uneasy. "We will see," I thought. Which my dad taught me growing up was a soft sell of "no thanks." So I'm sitting in my favorite coffee shop, pulling out my hair trying to figure out G Suite email and website plugins, when a familiar face turned to me. It was a college student whom I sat beside at the coffee shop last time I came too. We chatted, and he pumped me for info about this book. He looked it up online. He asked further questions about the counseling style of "Narrative Therapy.". Turns out he is studying to become a psychologist. Welp, looks like I'm promoting this book in person, whether I feel like being left alone or not. 😉 Thanks God. You care deeply that Meredith's book is launched into this world with open arms. . . . #inwantandplenty #meredith_mcdaniel #launchteam #hopewriters #christianwriter #stephlenox
I'm on my first book launch team! I had the total joy of meeting Meredith in line for the food truck at an evening event at the hope*writers conference I just attended. I had previously followed her for months on Instagram. It just had to be fate. You guys, she glows. This book is no joke either. As a licensed counselor, she knows how to slow you down from your hustle, to look, and feel, and be, and understand what keeps us running too fast. I know she's got me pegged. Come along with me, and let me know what resonates with you in the pieces I'll be sharing. I'm just so proud of who she is and what she has accomplished! . . . #inwantandplenty #booklaunch #meredith_mcdaniel #counselorwisdom #writersunite #firstbook #revellbooks
5 factors of thanks: - my little boy with his little hands in his little pockets - honest heartfelt conversations around the table - my husband's shoulder to lean on - my little girl's second lost tooth in 2 weeks - traction in my writing career What are your five factors of thanks?
Have you ever heard a friend voice an opinion, or a way they really felt about something, and thought, "You're not allowed to say that!" Have you? Because I know I have. Seriously guys, tell me if you have a similar metric running through your head. We may be the travelling jug band of recovering perfectionists. We have our own unique rules of survival that we learned long ago. And we have a similar script to each other. So tell me, have you ever caught yourself wincingly saying (or thinking) "Oh honey, you're not supposed to say that." When someone shares a terribly honest, and often ugly truth about herself? . . . #truequestion #haveyouever #notallowed #recoveringperfectionist #writer #writersofinsta #writersofig #nonfiction #hopewriters #christianwriter #God #Jesus #Christ #Bible #resilient #resilience #everydayresilience #everydayresilienceinchrist #bounceback #resurrectionpower #bettertogether #encouragement #keepgoing #youcandohardthings #selfhelp #stephlenox
I like Thanksgiving. But Christmas freaks me out. Every year. I think I'm preparing for the holidays mostly by ignoring them so far. There's enough holiday machine gears turning without me hopping on the unicycle, for the moment. But my question for you is: where is the line between "I can do hard things," and "Self-care/healthy boundaries/just say no to overwhelm"? What is your guiding tenet that gets you through the holiday season? Like in the movie Inception, what is your "totem" that grounds you in reality? . . . #dohardthings #healthyboundaries #gearup #resilience #christmasseason #christmastime #holidays #holidayoverwhelm #holidaystress #guidinglight #christianwriter #hopewriters #stephlenox
